With his time in office quickly winding down, President Obama is doing all he can to keep his short-sighted promise to shut down Gitmo. Despite potentially devastating consequences, he is trying to empty the facility.

Earlier this week, two Al Qaeda explosives experts were released from American custody and transferred from Cuba to Senegal. This ill-advised order was made by our president.

Action must be taken. We cannot place the burden of these terrorists in the hands of another country. Pretty soon, President Obama will run out of both time (in his presidency) and countries willing to take these terrorists.

The Guantanamo Bay detention center exists for an explicit reason: it’s the only location that can effectively hold these dangerous terrorists without posing a serious threat to us or our allies. Under no circumstance can we chance releasing these terrorists from Guantanamo Bay. It’s that simple. We must keep GITMO OPEN to ensure these terrorists are far from our borders and those of our allies.

We must focus on the big picture. The safety of the American people should always be Washington’s top priority. I won’t back down from this threat to our national security and neither should you. Keep terror locked up in Gitmo!
