With 9 Days Remaining Graves Continues to Lead
Momentum grows with fifth straight straw poll victory
(ELLIJAY, GA) – Republican Tom Graves (R-Ranger) attended Saturday’s Gilmer County Republican Party Forum and demonstrated why he is the leading candidate in the May 11th Special Election. The forum was held at the Gilmer County Courthouse and was attended by five of the six Republican candidates and the one independent in the race.
Noticeably absent was Lee Hawkins who missed his fourth public forum in the last six days.
Graves also finished first in the straw poll that was held during the forum, racking up his fifth straight straw poll victory.
Graves answered questions posed by the moderator and from the audience.
Graves proved he was the conservative in the race having authored and passed tax cuts and policies aimed at reducing government. He is the only candidate that’s been tested and has the backbone to stand up to leadership. He is a product of our North Georgia values and will use those same values when representing the 9th District in Congress.
The former four-term state representative said creating jobs and jump starting the economy would be his top priority. For the last two years, Graves has worked to remove government from the private sector by reducing taxation, regulation and litigation that stunts job growth.
The small businessman from Ranger said his Jobs Opportunity and Business Success proposal is designed to help entrepreneurs and small businesses create, expand and attract jobs through a series of tax credits, cuts, and incentives for businesses to hire Georgians.
Graves has been advocating on the campaign trail that the private sector, not government, is the driving economic force to recovery.
In the race to fill Congressman Deal’s unexpired term, Graves is the only candidate endorsed by the Club for Growth, FreedomWorks and RedState’s Erick Erickson.
The Graves campaign is hard at work with only nine days remaining until the May 11th special election. Graves continues to meet constituents, going door-to-door to listen to the needs of North Georgia voters.
Graves represented the 12th House District from 2003 until March 23, 2010. Graves announced last May that he would seek the 9th District Congressional seat that was vacated by Congressman Nathan Deal, who is running for Governor. As required by state law, he resigned his seat in order to qualify for the upcoming special election in Georgia’s 9th Congressional District.
