Special Election Candidate Bert Loftman Endorses Graves for Congress
(RANGER, GA) – With a clear first place finish on Tuesday night’s Special General Election, leading conservative candidate for Georgia’s 9th Congressional District, Republican Tom Graves, was endorsed this week by fellow contender, Dr. Bert Loftman.
“Tom Graves has participated in the various forums and debates where he has won my respect. I believe he is sincere with an honest outlook on life rooted in Christian values and a solid family life,” wrote Dr. Loftman in an email Wednesday. “I support him as our next Congressman from Georgia. When he goes to Washington, he will be a leader in advancing Conservative Values.”
Graves earned 35.4 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s special election which sent him into an expected runoff on June 8th. Winning 11 of the 15 counties and taking a close second place in the remaining 4 counties in Georgia’s 9th district. Graves has a 12 point lead on his opponent.
“Julie and I have enjoyed getting to know Dr. Loftman and his wife Bunny throughout the campaign,” said Graves. Dr. Loftman is a great conservative who, like me, is passionate about upholding the Constitution, passing the FairTax and doing what’s best for North Georgia. I am honored to have his support and will take a strong, bold, conservative message to Washington.”
U.S. Rep. Lynn Westmoreland endorsed Graves yesterday.
Graves was one of eight candidates in the May 11 special election in North Georgia. He credits his momentum and lead to his strong grassroots effort which involved making 11,403 calls, knocking on over 5,000 doors, and responding to over 250 voter contacts.
Graves significantly out-polled his runoff opponent in all but one county in the 9th District.
Graves represented the 12th House District from 2003 until March 23, 2010. Graves announced last May that he would seek the 9th District Congressional seat that was vacated by Congressman Nathan Deal, who is running for Governor.
