Momentum continues with Union County GOP Straw Poll win and endorsements
(RANGER, GA) – State Representative Tom Graves (R-Ranger), the conservative candidate in Georgia’s 9th Congressional District, continued his undefeated winning streak in 9th District straw polls last Saturday night when he captured the Union County Republican Party’s Reagan Day Dinner. Graves received 93 votes or 32 percent of the vote.
“Winning Saturday night was absolutely incredible and a reflection of the momentum we are receiving from hard working volunteers who support our campaign,” said Graves. “I am grateful to the Union County Republican Party, our GA-9 Freedom Fighter organization and to our supporters for making this possible. More and more North Georgians are saying they want a proven conservative to represent them in the U.S. Congress. They know that if we are going to protect freedom, preserve life and create jobs and opportunities for our communities, we need a conservative who is principled and won’t compromise our values.”

While straw polls don’t win elections, they are a good indication of a campaign’s momentum and grassroots support at a particular moment. Graves has won all three straw poll held for the 9th District Congressional race.
With a special election on the horizon, the Graves campaign gains momentum daily. Tuesday, Graves was endorsed by FreedomWorks and last week he earned the endorsement from RedState’s Erick Erickson. On Saturday the Graves campaign held an open house at its new campaign headquarters in Cumming with nearly 100 supporters in attendance. Afterwards, many went door-to-door on behalf of Graves. He’s also been endorsed by the Club for Growth PAC, the nation’s premier free-market, free enterprise group of conservatives, and was the first candidate to be certified 100 percent pro-life by the Georgia Right to Life PAC.
Fundraising reports showed Graves out raised all candidates in the race with over $400,000 raised for the election cycle from 1,257 contributors. The campaign continues to have the largest online presence of any candidate in the congressional race, has over 600 grassroots volunteers, and is the only campaign organized in all 15 counties of the district.
