GA-9 Freedom Fighter Update
TOM'S WEEK ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL
Tom kicked off a busy week on the campaign trail Monday, by attending the Big Canoe Community Relations Committee appreciation lunch, where they honored public servants for their distinguished contributions to their community. Tom was honored and humbled by the invitation and the chance to share with them his vision and ideas of conservative principles that he will continue to apply to issues that are being debated under the Gold Dome. That evening, the campaign held a festive Holiday Reception at the home of Gene Bishop and Nancy Addison. Many GA 9 Freedom Fighters, new and old, gathered to celebrate the season and Tom's candidacy. Tom appreciates Gene and Nancy for their hospitality and a wonderful event.
Tuesday evening Tom attended the Forsyth County GOP monthly meeting. While Tom was not the main speaker, he was thrilled to see such a great group of GA-9 Freedom Fighters who showed their support for Tom at the meeting. Ethan Underwood recognized Tom to report on the progress of the campaign to the more than sixty members in attendance.
On Wednesday, Tom had a great lunch in Cumming where he met with supporters and several new GA-9 Freedom Fighters, who were inspired by Tom's Right Values and Right Solutions for north Georgia. The day ended with a meet and greet reception at the LongLake neighborhood in Cumming. Thanks to Joe Bagwell for hosting the event, and to all those who brought their friends and family to hear Tom's solutions to end wasteful spending and restoring America's trust in the government that serves them.
Thursday was an action packed day in the 9th District. In the morning, Tom attended the Greater Hall County Chamber of Commerce's Egg and Issues Breakfast at the Gainesville Civic Center. At the breakfast, Tom was honored to sit with Graves for Congress Finance Co-Chairman Jim Walters, and enjoyed meeting those in attendance. After breakfast, Tom was a guest on the Martha Zoller Show where he shared his insight on the breakfast and the upcoming legislative session. At lunch, Tom met with Jennifer Morrell and other members of the Forsyth County UGA Alumni Association. Being a fellow Bulldog graduate, Tom was eager to hear the events and opportunities they were working on for other alumni in the area. The day ended with a wonderful event at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Rhett Bergeron in Cumming, where Tom was able to share with those in attendance his belief in limited government and how to maintain freedom in health care in America.
And on Sunday, Tom, Julie and the kids were reminded once again of the reason for the season as they attended the Christmas Cantata at Dahlonega Methodist Church. The beautifully, talented voices of the Choir and Praise Band combined for a wonderful morning and celebration of the Christmas Story.
GRAVES BRIGADE MARCHES ON
Holding true to the campaign's commitment to meet and share Tom's message with as many citizens of the 9th District as possible, members of the GA 9 Freedom Fighters were the only Congressional Campaign to participate in the Calhoun Christmas Parade on Thursday. The crowd was great, and the sights and sounds of the season were all around. Thanks to the many supporters who braved the cold to spread Tom's conservative message. Special thanks to Tucker Avra for lending us his truck for the event.
GO BIG RED!
Although the Gainesville High School Red Elephants came up short of the AAA State Championship, Tom wants to congratulate them on their hard work, commitment and determination that helped earn them an undefeated regular season and a Region Title. Graves for Congress was proud to help cheer the team along at the Georgia Dome by supplying the thousands of Gainesville fans with rally signs in support of Big Red!
A SPECIAL NOTE FROM TOM
Many of you have been following the latest events surrounding the Republican House Caucus and who will be the next Speaker of the Georgia House of Representative. As a member of the caucus, I am very concerned with the happenings of the last few weeks and truly believe new blood is needed in the leadership team that leads our caucus. I am happy to report that will happen this week as the Republican House Caucus will meet Thursday to elect a new Speaker, Speaker Pro Tempore and Majority Whip. While it was humbling last week to read where some political observers mentioned my name as a potential candidate for Speaker, I want each of you know that I am committed to winning this election and representing you in Congress. GA-9 Freedom Fighters from all across the 9th District have joined this campaign and we've put too much time and energy into preserving our conservative values to change course. A conservative is needed to pick up the mantle and I am committed to taking the fight for less government and more personal freedom to Washington. To all those that called, sent emails and Facebook messages, thank you for the encouragement. I know our campaign can be the catalyst to the next conservative revolution in Washington and that we will make a difference in Washington by sharing a little North Georgia common sense.
