Tom Graves for Congress

FreedomWorks Endorses Graves

Earns third major conservative group's backing

(RANGER, GA) – State Rep. Tom Graves (R-Ranger), the leading conservative candidate for Congress in Georgia’s 9th District, today added to his growing list of endorsement and announced the support of former U.S. House Majority Leader Dick Armey’s FreedomWorks PAC.

FreedomWorks, in naming Graves a “Champion of Freedom,” becomes the third major national conservative group to endorse Graves.  The others include the Club for Growth, the nation’s premier group of fiscal conservatives, and RedState’s Erick Erickson, a national conservative leader from Georgia.

“It is an honor to receive the endorsement from FreedomWorks, a group that is committed to lower taxes, less government and more freedom,” said Graves.  “FreedomWorks is committed to ensuring that every individual is given an opportunity to experience the American Dream on the basis of personal freedom and hard work.  That is what I have fought for on the state level and that is exactly what I will continue to do in Washington.  It is a privilege to have earned their support.”

FreedomWorks PAC website said, “FreedomWorks PAC is proud to endorse Tom Graves, running for the 9th Congressional District in Georgia, as a Champion of Freedom.  During his time as a state legislator, Graves made a name for himself as a true fiscal conservative not afraid to buck even his own party leadership if it meant sticking to principle.  In 2008, Graves won FreedomWorks "Legislative Entreprenuer" award recognizing the top state legislators fighting on behalf of lower taxes, less government, and more freedom.  We have every confidence that Graves will emerge as a true leader on behalf of this same agenda in the 112th Congress.”

Graves becomes one of eight candidates recognized by FreedomWorks as “Champions of Freedom.”  The others include Jonathan Paton (R) for Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, David Castillo (R) for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District, Marco Rubio (R) for Senate in Florida, Rand Paul (R) for Senate in Kentucky, Pat Toomey (R) for Senate in Pennsylvania, Mike Lee (R) for Senate in Utah, and Allen West (R) for Congress in Florida’s 22nd District.

Graves and Rubio both received FreedomWorks’ “Legislative Entrepreneur of the Year Award” in 2008.

Founded in 1984, FreedomWorks is headquartered in Washington, DC, and has hundreds of thousands of grassroots volunteers nationwide. The organization is chaired by former U.S. House Majority Leader Dick Armey and led by President Matt Kibbe.  FreedomWorks members know that government goes to those who show-up, and recruits, educates, trains and mobilizes hundreds of thousands of volunteer activists to fight for less government, lower taxes, and more freedom.  FreedomWorks believes individual liberty and the freedom increases consumer choices and provides individuals with the greatest control over what they own and earn.  FreedomWorks' aggressive, real-time campaigns activate a growing and permanent volunteer grassroots army to show-up and demand policy change.
