Tom Graves for Congress

Conservative Independent Eugene Moon Endorses Graves

(RANGER, GA) – The endorsements continue to grow for leading Republican candidate Tom Graves in the June 8th Special General Runoff Election with today’s endorsement coming from conservative independent Eugene Moon.

“One of the things I really liked about Tom’s campaign was that he emphasized that he is a Christian first, a conservative second, and a Republican third,” said Moon.  “We need energetic leaders in Congress who aren’t afraid to stand up to the status quo and will honor the Constitution.  Tom believes in limited government and more personal responsibility and I am confident that he will help trim federal government spending, balance the budget and lessen the role of government in our daily lives.”

Graves earned 35.4 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s special election which sent him into an expected runoff on June 8th.  He won 11 of the 15 counties and took a close second place in the remaining 4 counties in Georgia’s 9th District.  Graves has a 12 point lead on his opponent and significantly outpolled him in 14 of the 15 counties in the 9th District.

“Eugene has a firm grasp of the Constitution, free market principles, and the values that make our country great,” said Graves.  “He and I share the same philosophy: liberty and freedom, opportunity to succeed without government intrusion and personal responsibility for our families.  I am very proud to receive his endorsement, thank him for his encouragement and look forward to him joining the GA-9 Freedom Fighters on the campaign trail.”

Moon’s endorsement is the third major pick up for Graves since the May 11th Special General Election.  U.S. Rep. Lynn Westmoreland and former 9th District Congressional candidate Bert Loftman threw their support behind Graves last week.

Graves was one of eight candidates in the special election in North Georgia. He credits his momentum and lead to his strong grassroots effort which involved making 11,403 calls and knocking on over 5,000 doors.

Graves represented the 12th House District from 2003 until March 23, 2010.  Graves announced last May that he would seek the 9th District Congressional seat that was vacated by Congressman Nathan Deal, who is running for Governor.
